Congratulations Oklahoma on 100 Years in 2007! 
The 1889ers Society Celebrated Our Centennial in 2005 !
The 1889ers Society was founded in 1905 by people who made The Oklahoma Land Run of 1889 which opened the Oklahoma Territory for settlement. It is continued by our descendants and friends. Descendant Members of The 1889ers Society are direct lineal descendants of the pioneers who made the great Oklahoma Land Run of 1889 as well as those interested in Oklahoma history. Membership in The 1889ERS Society is open to all Friends of Oklahoma!

Oklahoma Family Tree Project Print E-mail
June McCuiston and Modesta Stewart presenting the $15,000 check to Executive Director Bob Blackburn The 1889ERS Society members voted at the December 9, 2006 meeting to contribute $15,000.00 to the Oklahoma Genealogical Society for the Oklahoma Family Tree project at the Oklahoma History Center.

  On December 20, 2006, June McCuiston, Historian; June Stone, Secretary,and Billie Fogarty were present when 1889ERS Society President Modesta Stewart presented the check to Executive Director Bob Blackburn. Others attending from the Oklahoma Historical Society were Dan Provo, Director of the Museum of History and Tim Swink, Director of Development. As a sponsor, a plaque or The 1889ERS Society will be placed near the Family Tree.

The Oklahoma Family Tree at the Oklahoma History Center, 2401 North Laird, Oklahoma City is an original wall sculpture that provides an opportunity for individuals to place their family name on a replica redbud leaf and record their family history in the Oklahoma Family History Book.  Gifts will be used to build an Oklahoma History Center endowment fund that will benefit future generations of Oklahomans.
